Staten Island, NY – A Max Rose campaign sign was defaced with an antisemitic message in West Brighton.

“Soros” was written in black ink across a sign at the former congressman’s campaign headquarters on Forest Avenue. This is the second antisemitic incident involving a Rose campaign sign.

The message alludes to Holocaust survivor George Soros, a billionaire philanthropist, who is Jewish. Conspiracy theories charge Soros with funding Black Lives Matter protests and migrant caravans to the southern U.S. border, according to the American Jewish Committee.

The AJC said that references to George Soros can be antisemitic in some instances.

Rose, who has been a vocal fighter of domestic antisemitism, has previously said that hate has no place on Staten Island.

“Enough is enough – we have a sick political culture that is allowing antisemitism to thrive in our politics. The sad thing is that it’s no longer shocking that our campaign has come under antisemitic attacks,” Rose told the Advance/SILive.com.
