Teheran – An uproar around the world, following the words of the Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling champion, Mohammad Ali Garai, who in the last day praised Adolf Hitler as an inspirational leader.

Garai, who is one of the successful faces of Iranian sports and finished in fifth place at the Tokyo Olympics, told Khabar Varzeshi (روزنامه خبر ورزشی) that Hitler was a “myth” for him.

In response to the question “Who is your legend among all people?”, he mentioned Hitler and explained the reason for his choice, after saying: “Because he had big ideas that he was trying to achieve.”

Muhammad Ali, the world’s wrestling champion, talked about his interest in Zlatan, Muhammad Ali, the boxing legend and the Esteghlal Club, and in part of his conversation he called “Hitler” his own legend among all the people of the world. The title of someone who has great thoughts in his head!

The Iranian-Norwegian journalist Mina Bai tweeted on Sunday that “Iran’s world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, Mohammad Garei, in an interview with a sports network in Iran, named Zlatan, Muhammad Ali and Hitler as his sources of inspiration! The Iranian government has made hatred of Jews so normal that there is no limit to how far it can go go!”

The one who still came out against the interview that was held already in April, is the news organization ‘Iran International’, which is based in London, where they first reported the pro-Hitler reaction of El Garei and asked: “But the question is how the education system in Iran, when Adolf Hitler, one of the greatest criminals in history and the initiator of World War II, becomes a legend of a national hero?”

The tweet went viral within minutes and many took issue with the wrestler’s statements, with some surfers calling for the wrestler to be denied the right to compete in international competitions and not be allowed to participate in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
