Germany – Antisemitic insult after attempted theft

Kurfürstendamm, Berlin – In the wake of an attempted theft, an employee of an electronics store was insulted in an antisemitic manner.

At around 6:50 p.m., a 40-year-old man tried to steal a smartwatch from the display of an electronics store on Kurfürstendamm. When this failed, the man threw the smartwatch against a TV, damaging both devices. The 40-year-old was then approached by the security service, whereupon he is said to have insulted one of the security staff in an antisemitic manner.

The rioter then knocked the security guard’s glasses off his face and elbowed him in the chest. The 40-year-old was held until police arrived. As part of the clarification of the facts, the man threatened the security staff several times. After the end of the police measures, the man was released on the spot. The police state protection of the State Criminal Police Office takes over the further investigations.
