Berlin – A small group of participants is said to have shouted anti-Semitic slogans at a May Day demonstration in Berlin. The police are investigating them.

The state protection of the Berlin police is investigating because of antisemitic slogans at the “Revolutionary May Day” demonstration. Observers from the Jewish Forum had documented in a video how demo participants had shouted “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.

A local t-online reporter observed a group of participants from the pro-Palestinian group Samidoun at the demonstration. “Boycott Israel” read one of their banners.

A spokesman for the Berlin police told t-online that after the criminal liability of these slogans had been checked, the meeting management would be addressed. This should influence the participants so that they refrain from such calls. If such calls occur repeatedly, the demo could be temporarily stopped. The police also have the opportunity to get individual participants out of the demonstration and determine their personal details.
