USA – Antisemitic flyers found in Hamden, CT

Hamden, CT – Federal and local authorities are investigating after antisemitic flyers targeting a Yale University student were scattered around residential properties in the town and New Haven last week, officials said.

Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett said in a Facebook post March 31 that the town had received reports of “flyers with bigoted, hateful language thrown onto lawns and driveways in several streets in town.”

“Hate and bigotry have no place in Hamden which is known by the cowardly way in which these messages were delivered,” Garrett wrote. “Hamden is a wonderfully diverse town and acts like this will not divide us.”

Hamden Police Chief Timothy Wydra said Tuesday that the department has received complaints from three residents who allegedly found the flyers on their properties, although “we do know there are more.” Hamden police are investigating the incident, and have been in contact with the New Haven Police Department and the Joint Terrorism Task Force of the FBI, according to Garrett.
