Yerres (Essonne) – The call lasted only 22 seconds, but it “amazed” the rabbi on the other end of the line.
On Tuesday, early in the evening, the rabbi of the Sephardic Synagogue of Yerres (Essonne) received regular terrorist and antisemitic threats on his cell phone.
When the rabbi answered the phone, a man screamed on the other end of the line: “I’m going to kill you all! You hear me, I’m going to kill you all,” the anonymous voice repeats over and over. “You killed my brothers in Palestine. I will come, and I will kill you all.”
The rabbi says he did not respond to the threats. “That phone call paralyzed me,” he continues. “I was not the target of these antismitic threats because he did not know that I was the rabbi. These threats were aimed at the entire Jewish community and all the worshipers of the synagogue. We are all very shocked.”
By tracking the caller, specifically thanks to the call number, a phone from Coudray-Montceaux, investigators identify a 17-year-old boy.
He was arrested the next day and his house was searched. At the scene, the police discovered an airsoft gun, a tear gas canister and another weapon used for paintball practice. However, at this stage of the investigation, it is not clear whether the 17-year-old is behind the conversation. He told the investigators that his phone had been hacked.
