Belgrade – The Belgrade Jewish Community said on Monday that the Sephardic cemetery in the Serbian capital had been vandalized with antisemitic graffiti.

A statement quoted unofficial reports that the graffiti was painted by a group of ultra-right supports of a Belgrade football club. It called the public to report any wrongdoing or plans to inflict harm on the Jewish community to the Jewish Community or the police. It recalled the rise of anti-Semitism in the world and the tragic events in Israel over the weekend.

The vandalism on the cemetery was reported to the authorities, it added.

The Sephardic and Ashkenazi cemeteries in Belgrade are the only two Jewish graveyards still in use in Serbia.
