Germany – Antisemitic incidents at an event commemorating the victims of the Holocaust in Siegen

Siegen – At an event commemorating the victims of the Holocaust, various antisemitic incidents occurred.

At first, a presumably drunk person approached the memorial event at the former deportation square at Siegener station and introduced himself to the participants. The person disrupted the commemoration by loudly announcing that the term Semite doesn’t only apply to Jews. He was asked to step aside, some participants tried to talk to the person beyond that. After a few minutes, the man moved away and yelled “Fuck Jews” towards the memorial. A so far uninvolved person yelled at the man, “Yeah, you’re right, brother.”

In the immediate vicinity of the memorial, three people made derogatory remarks about Israel, saying Israel murder children. The accusation is no longer directed at “the Jews”, but against Israel as a Jewish collective.

After the speeches, the participants went to railroad 4. From there, Jews were deported from victories during national socialism. Flowers were laid and candles were lit at the memorial. Meanwhile, a small group of youths above the station’s crossing shouted “Free Free Palestine” several times. As soon as the police were informed and they went up the stairs did the teenagers disappear and the memory disorder ended again.
