Ukraine – Memorial plaque in honor of the Jewish submarine commander vandalized

Kropyvnytskyi – Vandals destroyed a memorial plaque in honor of the Jewish submarine commander during World War II, Israel Ilyich Fisanovich.

For heroism and valor, a native of Kropivnitsky, Captain II rank Israel Fisanovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and one of the highest US military awards – the Navy Cross. On the board is written that “a monument to the hero-submarine Fisanovich I.I. will be erected at this place.”
