Germany – Antisemitic insults against musicians in Regensburg

Regensburg – A three-piece band played in the center of Regensburg near St.-Kassians-Platz. CDs on display suggested the band had a Jewish background, as the CDs available for purchase featured a Star of David among other things.

The musicians were insulted in an antisemitic manner by a 51-year-old man, who disrupted the group’s performance.

First, the 51-year-old homeless man, who was clearly under the influence of alcohol, disturbed the performance of the street musicians. After realizing the band’s Jewish background, he insulted them with several antisemitic statements. The police were then notified.

The officers took him into custody, which he was not allowed to leave until the next day. The Regensburg criminal police will take over the further investigations. The investigations are being conducted because of the initial suspicion of incitement to hatred and insult.
